Аннотация:

The Blackwell Encyclopaedia of Anglo-Saxon England is a major reference-work covering the history, archaeology, arts, architecture, literatures and languages of England from the Roman withdrawal to the Norman Conquest (c.450–1066 AD). Drawing on contributions by scholars of international standing, the book comprises a series of some 700 artists by 150 contributors, arranged in alphabetical order, describing the people, places, activites and creations of the Anglo-Saxons. The articles are illustrated by maps, line-drawings and black and white photographs; the book is accompanied by a comprehensive table of the «Rulers of England, c.450–1066», and by a classified index of head-words to facilitate access to the Encyclopaedia itself. The Encyclopaedia can be consulted for information and bibliographical orientation on points of detail; in addition, the accessible style and layout make it ideal for browsing by readers interested in aspects of Anglo-Saxon England outside the range of their own specialism.
