Neurotransmitter‐Induced Excitatory and Inhibitory Functions in Artificial Synapses

In this study, the excitatory–inhibitory balancing characteristics are emulated with the artificial synapses using adrenaline and acetylcholine solution. The device exhibits excitatory and inhibitory functions depending on the types of injected neurotransmitters and electrical stimuli. The interaction between excitatory and inhibitory synaptic responses is employed for emulating the excitatory–inhibitory balancing characteristics.
